Organizer Terms & Community Standards

Terms and community standards for organizations and individuals submitting or managing events.

Effective Date: August 30, 2026

1. Eligibility and Authority

Organizer accounts and submission features are intended for adults age 18 or older. By using organizer features, you represent that you are at least 18 and that you have authority to submit information on behalf of the organization, event, venue, or program you represent.

You must keep your account and organization information accurate and promptly remove access for people who are no longer authorized to act for your organization.

2. Hispanic Heritage Month Relevance

Hispanic Heritage Month Maryland is a curated Hispanic Heritage Month calendar. An event should be expressly connected to or presented by its organizer as a Hispanic Heritage Month event or program. A general Hispanic, Latino, cultural, networking, business, food, music, or community event does not automatically qualify solely because it involves Hispanic or Latino people, themes, organizations, or audiences.

Marketus and MDHCC may decline, remove, or reclassify submissions that do not fit the Platform's mission, are duplicative, are stale, or cannot be reasonably verified.

3. Accuracy and Updates

You are responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of submitted information, including date, time, venue, address, registration requirements, pricing, age restrictions, accessibility information, cancellation status, contact information, and external links.

You must promptly update or request correction of material changes, including postponement or cancellation.

4. Rights to Content

You may submit only text, images, logos, photographs, trademarks, links, and other content that you own, are authorized to use, or otherwise have a lawful basis to provide.

By submitting content, you grant Marketus and MDHCC the non-exclusive license described in the Terms of Use to display, format, reproduce, archive, and promote the content in connection with the Platform and the initiative.

5. Your Event; Your Responsibility

Unless Marketus or MDHCC is expressly identified as the organizer, you and the identified event organizer are solely responsible for the event and its operations. This includes venue arrangements, staffing, permits, licensing, insurance, safety, security, accessibility, food or alcohol compliance, attendee conduct, registration, ticketing, payments, refunds, cancellations, communications, and compliance with applicable law.

Listing an event does not mean Marketus or MDHCC sponsors, endorses, guarantees, insures, supervises, or assumes responsibility for the event.

6. External Registration and Payments

The Platform links to organizer-controlled or third-party registration pages when registration is required. Do not submit payment-card, banking, Social Security, government-ID, or other sensitive financial information into Platform event fields.

Any transaction on an external site is governed by that site's terms and policies. You are responsible for making your refund, cancellation, fee, privacy, and registration terms clear to attendees.

7. Public Contact Information and Privacy

Use public-facing contact information only where a field is intended for public display. Do not place private personal information, attendee lists, confidential records, or sensitive information in event descriptions, public organization profiles, or other public fields.

Organizer account and submission information may be available to MDHCC as the licensed program administrator. MDHCC may use information it receives in accordance with its Privacy Policy. Marketus's handling of Platform information is governed by the Privacy & Cookies notice.

8. Community Standards

Keep it accurate. Use the official event title, date, time, location, organizer, and registration link whenever possible. Do not create fake, speculative, duplicate, stale, or knowingly misleading listings. Do not imply that Marketus, MDHCC, a sponsor, or another organization endorses an event unless that is actually true.

Use content you have the right to use. Only upload images, logos, text, or other materials you own or are authorized to use. Give proper attribution where required. Do not copy restricted, paywalled, private, or confidential material into the Platform.

Protect people and private information. Do not publish private attendee information, personal residential addresses, financial information, government identifiers, medical information, passwords, or confidential records. Use public business or event contact information in public-facing fields. Do not use Platform information to stalk, harass, threaten, discriminate against, or target individuals.

No fraud, abuse, or harmful content. No scams, phishing, impersonation, malware, malicious links, fake registration pages, or deceptive promotions. No unlawful threats, targeted harassment, incitement to violence, or content that violates applicable law. No spam, repetitive promotional flooding, or attempts to manipulate Platform visibility or moderation. No unauthorized attempts to access administrator, organization, developer, or private records.

9. Moderation and Administrative Rights

Authorized MDHCC administrators and Marketus may review, format, correct, merge duplicates, request clarification, decline a submission, unpublish, archive, remove listings, or restrict an account when reasonably necessary for quality control, legal compliance, security, or administration of the initiative.

Nothing is automatically entitled to publication. Publication may occur without separate approval for organizations that have been granted trusted publishing privileges, but Marketus and MDHCC retain moderation authority.

10. Prohibited Conduct

Do not submit fraudulent, misleading, unlawful, infringing, harassing, hateful, malicious, sexually exploitative, dangerous, spam, or deceptive content; malware or unsafe links; unauthorized personal information; fake events; misleading registration links; or content designed to evade Platform moderation or security.

11. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you and the organization you represent agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Marketus, MDHCC, and their respective officers, directors, employees, volunteers, contractors, and agents from third-party claims, losses, liabilities, damages, judgments, settlements, and reasonable costs arising from your event; your submitted content; your registration, payment, refund, or cancellation practices; your violation of law; infringement of rights; or your breach of these Organizer Terms & Community Standards.

12. Warranty and Liability Limits

The warranty disclaimers and liability limitations in the Terms of Use apply to organizer use of the Platform. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Marketus and MDHCC are not responsible for lost registrations, lost revenue, event cancellation, attendance levels, external-site failures, organizer disputes, venue conditions, or other event-related losses.

13. Suspension and Termination

Organizer access may be suspended or terminated for material inaccuracies, misuse, security concerns, repeated policy violations, unauthorized activity, legal risk, or conduct inconsistent with the Platform's mission. Ending organizer access does not prevent Marketus or MDHCC from retaining records reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, audit history, or archival integrity.

14. Record Retention

Marketus and MDHCC may retain submission records, communications, and related information as reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, audit history, and archival integrity, even after an organizer relationship ends or content is removed.

15. Reporting Concerns

If you see an inaccurate event, unsafe link, accessibility problem, impersonation, or other issue, use the Platform's Contact page and provide the event or organization name and a short description of the problem.

Copyright and content-rights concerns. If you believe that content on the Platform infringes a copyright or other content right, use the Copyright & Takedown notice for the reporting checklist and process.

16. Governing Terms

These Organizer Terms & Community Standards are incorporated into the Terms of Use. If there is a conflict, these terms control only with respect to organizer-specific obligations. Maryland law and the Maryland-court provisions in the Terms of Use apply.
